About our founder
From Homelessness to Horizon
Stuart O’Sullivan, the founder of Horizon Therapy Rooms and construction entrepreneur knows what it’s like to have to rebuild.
In 2010, Stuart O’Sullivan’s life reached the most critical of crossroads. Struggling with alcohol dependency and homelessness, he began his recovery journey with a medically supervised detox; a turning point that marked the start of a new beginning.
With the support of Ashford Place — a London charity he remains deeply connected to — Stuart entered a recovery programme and began confronting the deeper causes of his addiction. Through hard work, medical expertise, and the guidance of a supportive community, he began to rebuild his life from the ground up.
With the help of Ashford Place, Stuart secured housing, stability, and — most importantly — hope for the future. Just a year after beginning his detox, he founded Horizon Builders Ltd, choosing the name Horizon to symbolise new beginnings and the belief that a better future is always possible.
Starting with no van, little money, and only a few basic tools, Stuart’s first job was small — but it was the beginning of something much bigger. Through determination, trust, and a commitment to doing things the right way, Horizon Builders slowly grew stronger.
As Stuart built his business, he also rebuilt his relationships — reconnecting with family, friends, and his daughter, Jordyn. It took time, patience, and effort, but it laid the foundation for a new life lived fully and soberly. The foundations of Stuart’s life strengthened further when he met and then married Emma in 2018, forging a wonderful blended family with her son Eamonn. Stuart has also navigated the challenges of being the parent of Eamonn, a seriously ill child cared for by Great Ormond Street Hospital — an experience that deepened his appreciation for the life-changing work of medical professionals, therapists, and carers.
Horizon Therapy Rooms is the next chapter in that journey. Created with care at its core, Horizon embodies everything Stuart believes in: providing secure, welcoming spaces where people can grow, connect, and create lasting change.
Just as community, support, and opportunity helped him rebuild his own life, Stuart’s vision for Horizon Therapy Rooms is to offer the same — creating spaces where therapists can thrive, and the conversations that change lives can begin.
